Sincerity and following
The two testimonies and following the Messenger ﷺ
The testimony that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah requires sincere worship for Him alone. The testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah requires obeying and following him.

La ilaha illa Allah
Negate worship from everything besides Allah and affirm it for Allah alone.

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
Believe his reports, obey his commands, avoid what he forbade, and worship Allah according to his guidance.

The balance
Sincerity without following is insufficient, and following without sincerity is insufficient.

Practice
For each act of worship ask two questions: is it sincerely for Allah, and is it established from the Prophet ﷺ?
